DESCRIPTION:From icons like the Ferris Wheel to the Golden Gate Bridge\, inventions like the telegraph and the zipper (yes\, the zipper)\, and foods from the hot dog to soda pop\, American World’s Fairs showcased ingenuity and invention to millions of visitors. For thirsty fairgoers\, cocktails had their moment in the spotlight.\nAmerica’s first World’s Fair celebrated the nation’s 100th anniversary\, and for cocktail culture\, 1876 landed during America’s Golden Age of the Cocktail. Sip a nostalgic journey to the early American expositions and learn the stories around iconic drinks served at the fairs.\nThis interactive class combines history and mixology. Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist\, Simon Moorby\, guides you through making three cocktails. Your mixology lessons include the techniques and correct use of the barkeep’s tools and techniques. Historian Renée Cebula with Raising the Bar shares how the fairs celebrated American cocktail culture to the world.\nShake\, stir\, and sip in style as you hear the stories\, learn the techniques\, and enjoy the drinks. Enjoy appetizers\, and take home your recipe booklet to continue your cocktail explorations at home. \nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made syrups and juices\, prepped and ready ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Tickets are $75 per person. Word of drinks like the Cocoyage\, Queen’s Park Swizzle\, and the ubiquitous Daiquiri spread. \nEnter Prohibition in the 1920s\, which boosted the tropical rum craze. Tourists from the dry states flooded Havana\, drinking daiquiris and fizzes and creating the cruise line industry. The 1940s and 50s brought a flood of Americans to Havana to enjoy the drinks\, music\, and tropical paradise.  \nThis rum-focused interactive class will enlighten the cocktail enthusiast while mixing and sipping a chronology of 3 drinks that tell the history of Havana. Immerse yourself in the world of mixology with our hands-on class set-up. You’ll find bartending stations equipped with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made syrups and juices\, prepped and ready ingredients\, and vintage glassware.
