DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 6\, 7:00 to 9:30 PM\n$20 for members; $25 pre-registration\, $30 at the door\nRegister here\nJoin us at the Washington State History Museum to explore the luxurious world of the Gilded Age at this fun-filled event! Guests can take a guided tour of the exhibition Dressing the Gilded Age: Fashion from the 1870s to 1910s\, and Raising the Bar will discuss Gilded Age history and lead an interactive cocktail-making demonstration. \nThis evening of fun and history is a 21+ event\, and IDs are required. Admission includes two drink tickets.\n \nRenée Cebula \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nRaising the Bar is a project by northwest native\, Renée Cebula. A former history educator\, her research focus turned to cocktail culture in America during the World Wars. The deeper into this topic\, the more her intellectual curiosities expanded to include America’s drinking history\, the development of specialized tools and equipment\, and the stories of mid-century decorative artists.

Delve into Martha’s signature cherry-infused cordial—equal parts hospitality and heritage—that became a staple of Mount Vernon entertaining. \nAt your bartending station\, you’ll shake\, stir\, and sip your way through the rich stories behind three historic drinks. Guided by Hogwash Whiskey Den’s expert mixologists\, Simon Moorby and Erin Fasbender\, and a dash of history (okay\, a large dash!) from Raising the Bar’s historian Renée Cebula\, you’ll recreate cocktails inspired by the Washingtons’ table and the nation’s earliest drinking traditions. \nJoin us for a toast to tradition\, craftsmanship\, and the spirited legacy that helped shape America’s first Thanksgiving and more! \nOur cocktail classes are hands-on\, featuring bartending stations for each pair of guests.
