SUMMARY:Camp Cocktail: 1920s London
DESCRIPTION:At the height of America’s Golden Age of Cocktails\, Prohibition shuttered the doors of drinking establishments. That golden age had fueled the rise of a cadre of professional bartenders. What happens when your career abruptly ends? Thousands of bartenders went abroad to continue their profession. They continued to stir and shake\, but more importantly\, to preserve and expand American cocktail culture creating new classics that\, today\, are part of America’s cocktail canon. Let’s learn the stories and taste these drinks! \nWe had so much fun at last year’s Camp Cocktail that we had to make it a tradition. Continuing the theme of great cocktail cities\, we decided this year’s theme would be the history and stories of three great cocktail cities during Prohibition. We begin with the story-worthy cocktails invented in London. \nJoin us for this hands-on interactive class on Sunday\, June 18th\, at 5 pm (our summer classes start later). Camp activity is stirring and shaking classic cocktails and learning the stories behind the drinks. Develop your palate and practice the mixologist’s techniques. Enjoy appetizers\, and take home your Camp Cocktail booklet to continue your mixology adventures at home. Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist\, Simon\, guides you through the use of tools and techniques. Raising the Bar’s cocktail historian\, Renée\, tells the stories behind the drinks. \nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. \nTickets are $75 per person. Purchase TICKETS HERE!   \nYour ticket includes the following: \n\nThree crafted drinks\nMixology and history lessons\nAppetizers\nA Camp Cocktail recipe booklet\n\nMUST BE 21 and over. The class is limited to 30 guests. \nIf you have questions\, please email Renée at owner@raisingthebarnw.com. \nSee the full lineup of our Camp Cocktail series HERE! The July 9th class is PARIS and HAVANA on August 6th.\nFind us on Instagram: Raising the Bar \nCheck us out on Facebook: Hogwash Whiskey Den

SUMMARY:May Cocktail Class with Hogwash Whiskey Den
DESCRIPTION:Campari and Cynar and more… oh my! The May class is about AMARO (or amari\, the plural). SUMMARY:Holiday Cocktail Class with Hogwash Whiskey Den
DESCRIPTION:Our holiday class features drinks inspired by the classic holiday movie; It’s a Wonderful Life. In the film\, Clarence enters a bar with George Bailey\, whom he just saved from drowning. George orders a double bourbon. Clarence\, whose last visit to earth seems to have been sometime in the 1800s\, requests a “flaming rum punch.” These tipples are the inspiration for our holiday cocktail class — along with stories around the film and American cocktail culture at the time. \n\n\n\nYes\, there will be fire. Beginning with a historic punch from England and one of Charles Dickens’ favorites. Then Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist\, Simon\, will guide you through 2 additional cocktails inspired by the movie. Your mixology lessons will be completed by using the barkeep’s tools and techniques correctly. And cocktail historian Renée\, with Raising the Bar\, will illuminate the stories and history behind these classic drinks. \nDevelop your palate and learn the mixologist’s techniques for making drinks. Enjoy appetizers\, and take home your recipe booklet to continue your cocktail explorations at home. This interactive cocktail class combines history and mixology. SUMMARY:Absinthe Class at Emma Rue's

DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to be back at the PNW’s newest and coolest music festival. \nThe Market is magical and we cannot wait. There’s music\, art\, yoga\, and BADASS BARWARE! We’re talking 1950s travel bars and everything else to support and enhance your imbibing experience. Market hours are Fri.\, Sat.\, and Sun.\, noon to 8pm. \nWhat is THING NW? \n“THING” is a 3-day festival of music and arts taking place August 26-28\, 2022 at historic Fort Worden in Port Townsend\, WA. The event features a tightly curated lineup of diverse performers with an emphasis on fresh discoveries and a vision to create an environment where all are welcomed and represented. This includes a distinctive mix of music\, comedy\, visual arts\, speakers\, and highlights from STG’s signature education and community programs. Fort Worden is a former military base (and filming location of An Officer and a Gentleman) encompassing 434 acres with 12 miles of forested hiking trails\, 2 miles of walkable saltwater beaches and commanding views of the Puget Sound. The historic property has evolved into a lifelong learning center in the magnificent setting of Port Townsend\, WA- dubbed “the Paris of the Pacific Northwest” by Sunset Magazine. The festival features 4 stages including 2 outdoor stages\, McCurdy Pavilion (former balloon hangar converted into a theatre) and the Wheeler Theatre (intimate art deco venue). The festival sold out in its inaugural year (2019) garnering a warm response from the community. \n“A pretty relaxed affair\, and that’s not a bad thing. In fact\, that’s part of the allure.” –The Stranger \nThis requires a ticket and some planning. There’s camping and accommodations in beautiful Port Townsend. SUMMARY:Camp Cocktail: The Drinks of New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:Simon and Renée felt that camp shouldn’t be just for kids\, so we created a series of classes: Camp Cocktail. Each “camp” is about the history and stories of three great American cities. Our inspiration came from Tennessee Williams\, who famously wrote\, “There are only three great cities in the U.S.: New York\, San Francisco\, and New Orleans. All the rest are Cleveland.” We don’t know whether Williams had any cocktails in mind\, but many\, no numerous classic cocktails came to mind for a mixologist and a historian. \nEvery camp has activities\, and ours are stirring and shaking classic cocktails while learning the stories behind the drinks. New Orleans is the heart of American cocktail culture. The drinks created in NOLA are the foundation for the classics of the Golden Age of the Cocktail. Develop your palate and learn the mixologist’s techniques for making these drinks from the Big Easy. Feast on appetizers\, and take home your camp recipe booklet to continue your cocktail adventures at home. \nThis interactive cocktail class combines history and mixology. Hogwash master mixologist Simon Moorby walks guests step-by-step through the making of 3 drinks. Cocktail historian\, Renée Cebula of Raising the Bar\, tells the stories of how these drinks represent the history of New Orleans. \nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Shake\, swirl\, and sip in style as you hear the stories\, learn the techniques\, and enjoy the drinks. \nTickets are $65 per person. Your ticket includes three crafted drinks\, mixology and history lessons\, appetizers\, and a souvenir camp booklet. \nMust be 21 and over. Each class is limited to 30 guests. \nIf you have questions\, please email Renée at owner@raisingthebarnw.com. \nFind us on Instagram: Raising the Bar \nCheck us out on Facebook: Hogwash Whiskey Den

SUMMARY:Tiki Drink Talk at Art of the Aloha Shirt Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lively evening with a fast-paced gallery tour\, Tiki cocktail talk\, and presentation from a local vintage Aloha shirt collector\, plus refreshments! \nDr. Linda A. Bradley\, Professor Emeritus at Washington State University\, will lead a fun gallery tour of our newest exhibit Art of the Aloha Shirt. She’ll share an overview of the roots of aloha attire and provide insight into the broader cultural and historical significance of this style. Dr. Bradley conducts research into textiles and clothing as material culture and examines the social\, cultural\, historic\, and psychological aspects of dress. \nLocal collector David Bader will share examples of aloha shirts from his extensive collection\, while providing participants with a deeper understanding of how the style has changed over time. \nAnd learn all about “The Origins of Tiki: The Drinks Behind the Shirts\,” with cocktail historian Renée Cebula. The history of tiki cocktails is a global story involving the Caribbean and Los Angeles more than Tahiti and Honolulu. Like the popularity of the aloha shirt\, tourism also ushered in changes in what people drank on the islands. \nEnjoy a tropical mocktail while you take in the stories and history! \nsource: https://www.washingtonhistory.org/event/aloha/ \nThis event is FREE.

SUMMARY:A Jolly Olde English Christmas Cocktail Class
DESCRIPTION:In the holiday classic\, It’s a Wonderful Life\, the angel Clarence enters a bar with George Bailey whom he just saved from drowning. George orders a double bourbon. Clarence\, whose last visit to earth seems to have been sometime in the 1700s\, requests a “flaming rum punch.” Classic English tipples are the inspiration for our December cocktail class. Yes\, there will be fire! \n\n\nCocktail historian\, Renée will share the history of England’s classic drinks and holiday-perfect recipes. Expand your cocktail repertoire and mixology skills with step-by-step lessons. \n\n\nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Shake\, swirl\, and sip in style as you deepen your knowledge of cocktails and develop your palate. \n\n\nClass includes appetizer\, cocktail recipe booklet\, and 3 drinks — from Dickens’ favorite to the grass at Centre Court and the Brit’s traditional nod to the Blackthorn bush. \nClass location is The Culinary Stone in Couer d’Alene’s Riverstone. \nClass is $50 per person. To reserve and purchase your seat at the table\, 277-4116call The Culinary Stone at (208) 277-4116.
