SUMMARY:Absinthe Class at Emma Rue's
DESCRIPTION:What is absinthe\, and why the bad reputation? This class explores the story of the ingredient that Hemingway described as “that opaque\, bitter\, tongue-warming\, brain-warming\, idea-changing liquid alchemy.” In the late nineteenth century\, absinthe enjoyed popularity among Parisian artists and other creative types\, from Picasso to Toulouse-Lautrec\, and then was banned. Today\, absinthe is enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Learn about the history of absinthe and its journey and influence on American cocktail culture while learning to make the drinks. Shake\, swirl\, and sip in style as you hear the stories\, learn the techniques\, and develop your palate. \nThis interactive cocktail class combines history and mixology. Join owner/bar manager Aaron Hein of Emma Rue’s as he walks guests step-by-step through making the drinks. Cocktail historian\, Renée Cebula of Raising the Bar\, tells the history and stories of how this ingredient landed in classic American cocktails. \nStep up to bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Ticket includes class booklet\, three crafted drinks\, mixology and history lessons\, appetizer\, and that je ne sais quoi. \nTickets are $85 per person. \nMust be 21 and over. Class is limited to 24 guests. \nFind us on Instagram: Emma Rue’s and Raising the Bar

SUMMARY:Camp Cocktail: The Drinks of New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:Simon and Renée felt that camp shouldn’t be just for kids\, so we created a series of classes: Camp Cocktail. Each “camp” is about the history and stories of three great American cities. Our inspiration came from Tennessee Williams\, who famously wrote\, “There are only three great cities in the U.S.: New York\, San Francisco\, and New Orleans. All the rest are Cleveland.” We don’t know whether Williams had any cocktails in mind\, but many\, no numerous classic cocktails came to mind for a mixologist and a historian. \nEvery camp has activities\, and ours are stirring and shaking classic cocktails while learning the stories behind the drinks. New Orleans is the heart of American cocktail culture. The drinks created in NOLA are the foundation for the classics of the Golden Age of the Cocktail. Develop your palate and learn the mixologist’s techniques for making these drinks from the Big Easy. Feast on appetizers\, and take home your camp recipe booklet to continue your cocktail adventures at home. \nThis interactive cocktail class combines history and mixology. Hogwash master mixologist Simon Moorby walks guests step-by-step through the making of 3 drinks. Cocktail historian\, Renée Cebula of Raising the Bar\, tells the stories of how these drinks represent the history of New Orleans. \nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Shake\, swirl\, and sip in style as you hear the stories\, learn the techniques\, and enjoy the drinks. \nTickets are $65 per person. Your ticket includes three crafted drinks\, mixology and history lessons\, appetizers\, and a souvenir camp booklet. \nMust be 21 and over. Each class is limited to 30 guests. \nIf you have questions\, please email Renée at owner@raisingthebarnw.com. \nFind us on Instagram: Raising the Bar \nCheck us out on Facebook: Hogwash Whiskey Den

SUMMARY:Camp Cocktail: San Francisco 7/31
DESCRIPTION:The 7/31 class is SOLD OUT. We added an additional class on 7/17. See 7/17 on the calendar. Cheers! \nSimon and Renée felt that camp shouldn’t be just for kids\, so we created a series of classes: Camp Cocktail. Each “camp” is about the history and stories of three great American cities. Our inspiration came from Tennessee Williams\, who famously wrote\, “There are only three great cities in the U.S.: New York\, San Francisco\, and New Orleans. We begin this summer series with New York! \nEvery camp has activities\, and ours are stirring and shaking classic cocktails while learning the stories behind the drinks. After the Gold Rush in 1849\, San Francisco was transformed overnight into a bustling\, chaotic\, diverse city. It was the center of American drinking culture in the new west inventing iconic drinks that are part of the American cocktail codex. SUMMARY:Hogwash Holiday Cocktail Class
DESCRIPTION:In the holiday classic\, It’s a Wonderful Life\, the angel Clarence enters a bar with George Bailey whom he just saved from drowning. George orders a double bourbon. Clarence\, whose last visit to earth seems to have been sometime in the 1700s\, requests a “flaming rum punch.” These 2 tipples are the inspiration for our holiday cocktail class — bourbon and flaming punch. \nYes\, there will be fire. Beginning with a historic punch from England\, and one of Charles Dickens’ favorites. Then Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist\, Simon\, will guide you through 2 additional cocktails featuring whiskey and infused bourbon. Your mixology lessons will be complete with the correct use of the barkeep’s tools and techniques. And cocktail historian\, Renée\, with Raising the Bar will illuminate the stories and history behind these classic drinks. \nClass set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools\, fresh-made and prepped ingredients\, and vintage glassware. Shake\, swirl\, and sip in style as you deepen your knowledge of cocktails and develop your palate. \nTickets are $65.00 per person. MUST BE 21 and over. Class is limited to 24 guests. \nTicket includes three crafted drinks\, mixology and history lessons\, appetizer\, and souvenir recipe booklet. Celebrate the season in the warmth and ambiance of Hogwash Whiskey Den. \nPurchase tickets here!  \nCOVID-19 POLICY: To ensure the health and safety of our staff and guests\, all patrons will need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours from the time of the event to attend this class. \nMasks will be required at all times in the building while not eating or drinking. \nWe thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
