Doctor Zhivago and the Rise of Vodka in America
November 19, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm
$75
In the film Doctor Zhivago, Viktor Komarovsky stumbles into Zhivago’s cold apartment. Covered in snow and whiskers thickly coated with ice, he screams, “I need heat.” Komarovsky reaches for vodka. In 1965, he wasn’t the only one.
This multi-Oscar-winning film debuted amid the Cold War. A decade that also ushered in the rise of a new liquor for many Americans. Vodka quickly became America’s number-one selling spirit. November’s class is about the rise of vodka in America: the history, the drinks, the style!
Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist, Simon, guides you through the use of tools and techniques. Raising the Bar’s cocktail historian, Renée, tells the stories and history behind this popular spirit.
Tickets are $75 per person. Your ticket includes:
- Three crafted drinks
- Mixology and history lessons
- Appetizers
- A cocktail recipe booklet
Class includes a bartending station for each pair of guests, fresh-made and prepped ingredients, and vintage glassware. Shake, stir, and sip in style as you deepen your knowledge of cocktails and develop your palate.
