5/12 Tequila Cocktail Class with Hogwash Whiskey Den
May 12 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$75Oh, tequila. You are many things to different people; as for your history, now that’s quite the story!
Our May class is about tequila: its origins and how it came to America. We’ll make three tequila cocktails. Unknown to the first cadre of 19th-century professional mixologists, learn how Prohibition brought attention to this mainstay spirit of every back bar in today’s drinking dens.
Hear the story of tequila’s contribution to cocktail culture while Hogwash Whiskey Den’s master mixologist, Simon Moorby, guides you through making three cocktails. Your mixology lessons include the techniques and correct use of the barkeep’s tools and techniques, and Raising the Bar’s resident historian, Renée shares how these drinks shaped 20th-century drinking culture.
Develop your palate and learn the mixologist’s techniques for making drinks. Enjoy appetizers, and take home your recipe booklet to continue your cocktail explorations at home. This interactive cocktail class combines history and mixology. Class set-up includes bartending stations with all the necessary tools, fresh-made and prepped ingredients, and vintage glassware. Shake, stir, and sip in style as you hear the stories, learn the techniques, and enjoy the drinks.
